Jane is Deputy Director of Social Housing in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, responsible for national policy on the social housing, including development of the Social Housing White Paper.  She has held previous senior roles in government on the private rented sector & leasehold, planning, community cohesion and faith, and in supported housing and homelessness.  Outside the civil service, her professional and voluntary work has included roles in local government, housing associations , housing charities and being a school governor.  She was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2015 for services to Planning. 

  • Outlining the timetable for the Social Housing Green Paper action plan – aiming to deliver more high-quality housing, encourage better tenant rights and ensure landlords demonstrate that they have acted on concerns
  • Introducing the New Communities Framework: New legislation designed to build stronger, more integrated communities and reduce the stigma of social housing
  • Driving up the accessibility of all homes for disabled people, delivering 300,000 new accessible and adaptable homes every year
  • Announcing the New Homes Ombudsman to hold developers to account and drive up the quality of new homes
